It reminds me, though, of the 19th century theories that if you simply got things growing in the American West, it would create a virtuous cycle of rain that would allow you to grow more stuff. John Wesley Powell called bullshit on that theory and, as a result, lost his government job. But a century later, it was clear that Powell had been right.

Always thought those solar concentrator projects would generate plenty heat to desalinate sea water that could be used to irrigate.
