I heard a report on NPR that restaurants are one of the stumbling blocks. They are afraid they can't keep up with high volume using electric and one restauranteur mentioned being able to stay open during a power outage because the big stuff was all gas.

I think the transition to all electric will require a lot of businesses to buy large generators. That said, it does seem that the indoor air quality issues are significant. Long before it became a climate issue, some people were trying to get these stoves banned for health reasons. I think if this were pushed with a health rationale front and center, there would be less political football over it.
