Sorry about the outage

JaguarPC had some type of server meltdown, then their backup somehow corrupted some forum cache.  It took a while to figure it out.

Brad

No worries.  Sounds bad.  Sorry you had to devote the time to figure it out LM.

Th3 Core was missed.  Imagine that an old time forum script with a bunch of old timers (in Internet terms) is  better than all the billion dollar, fancy-schmancy, social media sites combined.

rcjordan

Thanks, LM.  Sorry for the PITA problem.

>old time forum script

It still works great.  The newer hotness in tech-y forums (SmartThings, Hubitat) is Discourse (paid service) and it has some handy features. But there are only two features that would be enhancements to this old workhorse (both notify another member by putting a flag and link to the post on their avatar).

1: The ability to call a specific user to a post by using @+nick, ex: @Brad.

2: An option to 'like' a post. Besides the intended general use to show appreciation for a post, on threads that have become one-to-one conversations between 2 members we use it to show the post's owner that the post has been read *without* bumping the thread up on the active list.

Thanks for the efforts.

Two rather full days so I missed the outage entirely I guess.

How is Jaguar treating you these days? I once loved them but left during the great perturbations they had for a while

littleman

They've been ok for the most part in the last five years or so.  There was a while there when they were terrible, but this is the first major problem we've had here once we switched servers.  Hopefully this will also be the last for a long time.

Travoli

Thanks for the hard work, littleman!

Yes. I'm glad it's back!

littleman

I am glad you all still find value in our meeting spot.  I guess now it is mostly a place where people could talk to familiar voices to help sort out the word.

Rupert

Thanks for sorting LM

I was away on a Yamaha Tenere in Wales, so missed the outage :)

Very much so. This crew teaches me something almost every day. New facts, new insights, new energy.

I TREASURE TH3 CORE!

I second what Buckworks said. I always get something out of this place.
