Anybody here buying one?  I'd buy one for Louise just to give it a try except for the subscription.

I'm definitely not buying one, but I suspect that in a relatively short time, most of the functionality will be built into your phone and part of a pitch to get you to sign up for Apple or Google or some other AI service.

In the current form factor and pricing, it reminds me of Google Glass. It was half ridiculous, half amazing science fiction glimpse into the future.

I've mentioned this before, but my benchmark on things like this are Peter Hamilton's Pandora's Star and Vernor Vigne's Deepness in the Sky. I think the super small and ubiquitous personal AI tech like in those books is coming (albeit not the interstellar travel).
