Two things really stand out to me: 1. no corporate or Big Tech control, 2. a new rendering engine, because we've over consolidated on this score.

I applaud the effort.  The world needs more browser alternatives and the big two rendering engines are not enough.

This isn't 100% true though.  There are a few independent browser projects that are currently being developed.  Unfortunately, none of them have full HTML5 support as of yet, but $1 million would definitely go a long ways in helping them.

I've been following these browsers development for at least the last 15 years.  They have been making incremental progress and each has their strengths and weaknesses.
