TLDR; The state has an estimated 178,000 shared chargers for EVs—not counting 700,000 chargers installed in single-family homes. That's compared to roughly 120,000 gas pumps across the state.

Sounds about right.  Locally, they are in about half of all public parking lots.

Of course, it's not a strict equivalence, since most are Level 2, which means that instead of a 10-minute stop, it's a 10-hour stop.

That said, even though I only have a PHEV, the convenience of having a Level 2 charger in my driveway means that it's way more convenient than the gas station. So if you have a driveway or a garage that you own, an EV is more convenient for daily driving than an ICE vehicle despite charging times. It's only on road trips that the long charging times become an issue.
