Where do search engines get their map feeds?

I know this much:  Google and Yahoo get their feeds from teh same place.  Because the mapping information for my Dad's seed business is wrong (but the same wrong location) for both sites.  We've got truck drivers who put in our location in their phone and literally end up 8 miles in the wrong direction.  So it's not a small screw up.

I've checked with the local 911 dispatch, and their information is correct.  So, google and yahoo are getting their feed from someone else.  And, I corrected the issue once in google, but when they updated their information, the location went back to the wrong place.

So, I've got to fix the feed.

So far, Google blew me off on the phone and literally hung up in my ear.  I can't even find a decent Yahoo phone number to call, OR a place to fix the stupid yahoo map issue online.

I'm absolutely sick of going around and around with the search engines.  I need to talk to the feed people.  Does ANYONE have ANY BLOODY IDEA AT ALL where they get their feed from?

Thank you,

ukgimp

I have the same problem with gps. People arrive at the wring location, every time. Painful.

Places info is "a variety of sources" and I *believe* maps directions and addresses are mainly based on places info, so it could be hard to track down.

Since its both Google and Yahoo it sounds like it's either going to be a very obvious source (if it were UK I'd suggest yellow pages or local business directories) or that they've accidentally merged yoou with a similar sounding business nearby? Is it that they find the address wrong (ie; they also find your neighbours in the same street 8 miles in the wrong direction) or that they specifically find you in the wrong place and change your address? That might help you to work out f the problem is with some place which lists *you* wrongly or with more general mapping co-ordinates or street names.

Goog luck. I have my own personal version of hell with Google Places and its no fun :(
