Foresquare getting serious about local search

I was wondering what was taking so long.  Foresquare is not the first place I go for local search, but I could get used to going there.  I try to help promote local businesses by checking in and I notice some good tips and reviews on Foresquare when I do.

I used the app all this week and hadn't noticed that it had changed. Now that I look at it again I guess you could say they've pushed search to the fore, but rarely think of Foursquare as a discovery engine. They need to change that.

I agree bill, they need to market it different.

The way Foresquare works for me: I check in at restaurant A, but I see the list of other restaurants nearby and spot one that I have forgotten about and make a note to try next time.  Sort of the crumbs off the table, but it does have some effect.
