Meizu has launched their phablet, wait for it, in China. Europe to come.

USA left high and dry at the altar. Yawn.

They need to hurry up, because in the meantime the OS is falling further behind both iOS and Android.  Both have had 3-4 complete updates to their OS and hardware since Ubuntu Phone was first announced.  Ubuntu still does not have things like a personal assistant available and it really has not formally launched yet world wide.

Didn't Mozilla also have a phone OS they were developing?  You'd think with all the privacy concernes there would be real demand for an open source platform.

Mozilla did and does.  They were developing a $25 phone but have abandoned that and will try to develop a top of the line phone.  The problem with Moz OS is it relies on web apps which have trouble interacting with other web apps and the OS for things like notifications.

I'd be willing to give Moz Phone a try if it was on some good hardware.
