4/4 last week.  Doing #2 for this week now in a few minutes.

A little off on what counts as a "week" b/c of the 4th...

So my goal is at least one climbing session and one "long" thing every week.

I managed one climbing day (minimal - two laps up something I'm working on) and one "long" thing (12-mile, very hilly run/walk with Theresa on Monday and a backcounty ski run on Tuesday).

Still trying to work more complementary strength training in, but it never seems to rise to the top

4/4 gym sessions also did some nice hiking with the family today, hoping to do some skateboarding tomorrow.

172. Not bad after a week of entertaining 12-15 family members.

Moved a couple of tons of damp sand yesterday the hard way --with a mattock (a.k.a. 'mad ax') & shovel. Couldn't get a backhoe in there.

I have some workout space for you behind my house. It will be more than a couple of tons... and it won't be sand. But it's all yours if you need a workout. No problem. I'll even let you do it for free.

rcjordan

Thanks, EG, I'll be in touch.

>mattock

What I have is actually the closest in design to a lip adze, but beefier, like a grubbing hoe. Think of it as an ax with the head turned sideways like a hoe, it about that weight and handle length.  I have 2, they're from the 40's construction biz or possibly much earlier from my grandfather's farm. When I'm digging, they are my go-to tool. For tight spots, I do use a short mattock.

I finished my nefarious construction project and moved the sand back in place today. Lots of shoveling.

I learn so much here.  Never heard of most of those before :)

Last week, girls in New York, so 3 runs, and a cycle to the pub... 4/4.... champion!

Rupert, it is amazing how much one could get done when the kids are away, good work.

Dras, it is good to see you getting back into the habit.

4/4 for me.

It was good! I actually did at least a little bit of climbing on three different days. Slacked on the running and weights, but I'm pleased!

I managed a solo run (my third effort) on the way to work on a project I'm working on. Not making great progress, but I think I'm learning a bit. Here's a pic from the second effort

Managed to get in some easy climbing with Theresa friends I haven't seen in a while. I count that as my "long" thing since we were out all day and got in a fair bit of hiking. Amazing place

And then yesterday I got up at 4:30 to climb with one of my best friends. We used to climb together a lot before her son was born three years ago, but I think this is only our second outing in three years! Left the house at 5am and we were standing on top by 8:30, swimming in the river by 10:30 and home around 11am for a bit more than a half day of work, and then relaxing for a bit in the evening with Theresa. Days like that make me feel so fortunate.

We climbed a North American classic and even on a Sunday we were alone on the entire cliff because everyone is afraid of the heat

A really good week!

do I need to comment on that?

Probably not. But in the "season," that route can see 6-8 parties get on it in a day. So to be on it alone on a weekend is actually rather extraordinary. I expected fewer people because for slower parties, it can be an 8 or even 12-hour outing. I once met some guys who took two days! So the slow parties would experience misery this time of year, but the morning temps are comfy for faster parties.
