ACM cladding and the Grenfell Tower fire

Waaay off our usual subject matter, but I've been interested in how the cladding was part|much of the problem at Grenfell.  We don't get much of the details here, just the sensationalism.  Here's a good page on the differences in ACM with respect to flame-spread.

Umm, well, that's how it goes.  About 10 yrs ago, one of our contractors cladding a hotel in the Outer Banks resort area was caught installing vinyl siding that did not meet the flame-spread code. He wasn't caught by the inspectors, but turned in by a competitor who'd lost the bid. He waited until the job was almost complete before he went to the inspectors.

WE do have some EXPERIENCE with a Hotel & FIRE in that area  ;)

Recently I was driving around Manchester. There are many high rise blocks. What's obvious now is the residents. Have tried to rip the cladding off. You can see then get to 2nd or 3rd floor. Must be scary.

However, no fucker would have died if they had left the building when first notified. They were told to stay though

One person was taken to hospital after a large fire broke out in a block of flats in Manchester city centre.
