I used to eat alfalfa sprout and peanut butter sandwiches as a kid all the time. And I actually liked them. Always hated bean sprouts though.

When I go to a salad bar and see them, I sometimes add a few and vaguely think "why do I never have these at home?"

Now I have an answer.

In the other post about the food safety site, I mentioned fresh, green leafy veggies kept showing up (particularly packed spinach)

There's e coli in soil everywhere, lot more common than people are aware of.  Eating raw veggies is indeed a gamble.

Which is one of the reasons I hate salads. The other reason is that it's understood that cooked foods unlock more of the vitamins.
