It makes sense that they would use the turbo 400 transmission, electric motors have a broad and flat torque curve, but I do find it funny that a 35 year old automatic would be the first choice.

IMO, they run the risk of killing the traditional "whole car" brand.  I believe part of the electric vehicles industry will eventually be a Lego-like industry where we assemble semi-custom cars & light trucks.  This could be a step in that direction.
