Until recharging takes <15 minutes, all electric cars should list price and range, together.

This is why I think hydrogen fuel cells will eventually take the lead with electric vehicles.

EVs will make great suburban 2nd cars. Currently, I'm more interested in level 4+ autonomy than drive train, but I have a hunch that we're going to see affordable L4 available in EVs first.

The L4 tech has to solve the power consumption problem before they're a good fit for EVs. Right now, they would reduce range by 20% and range is already the Achilles heel of EVs.

Lots of new fuel cell and battery tech is in labs. There is some promising work on lithium batteries. If they can build lithium batteries, that at least doubles storage. The problem with lithium batteries is that if you charge them fast, they build dendrites that eventually short out the battery and make it blow up. So we're stuck with lithium-ion which use up half their capacity stopping that.

Volkswagon? So have they hidden a petrol engine in there somewhere?

Heh, a diesel engine.
