It's in my cart. I'm just waiting for my project list to clear a bit.

Major reason is full house wifi coverage even out in the corners.  A respected reviewer in the smarthome forum says it gets the job done in big houses.

2nd: I had to give up the tp-link wifi extenders because extenders change the mac numbers of devices downstream. I need DHCP Reservation for some smarthome devices ...so I can't have waffling macs.

3rd: Set up VPN so I can get into the smarthome server while away. (I could do that now with the upgraded firmware on my current Netgear, but it can wait until the change.)

Have you looked at Unify stuff? When we moved I bought an edgerouter and extended range access point. It covers both floors well and all the way to back of the pool, and it's still not mounted yet. Just laying on top of a bookshelf, inverted.

Not as user friendly for non-techs but I think you would love the features and abilities.

I think it was about 170 for both, maybe 225...well worth it and has been better than the consumer stuff I've always had.

And once again, no controls to shape bandwidth by IP address or MAC address.

Why do all the QOS systems only allow you to prioritize by protocol and application? Surely there have to be parents all over who don't want to prioritize Netflix unless they're the ones who are on it.

BTW, several in the SH forums have said that their 4-person (w/ 2 teens) households are maxxing out 4 stream routers.  Streaming 4k is usually mentioned.

Just don't let the pre-procreating members of your family stand too close to it.
