EUROPE MIGRANT ISSUE > you say what?
« on: September 03, 2015, 12:25:40 PM »
Should the EU try to solve the problem at it's source?

Yes, and not just the EU, but the whole world. Sickens me that people will risk everything just to be able to live a life without fear.

It really shouldn't need pictures of dead children washed up on the beaches for the world to take notice.

So sad.

I think a first step is to get rid of the N. African 19th Century colonial borders and let new nation states form.

Heart breaking.  Seems like the reluctance to help is stemming from the fear that today's refugees will be tomorrow's terrorists. The EU needs to figure out how to balance that out with what is needed now.

>Should the EU try to solve the problem at it's source?

I can't imagine that coming out well.

I don't think that's actually the main fear. Europe has enough home grown terror to concern itself with and most 1st & 2nd generation immigrants are so thankful to their new hosts that terror wouldn't come to play.

I think the issues are much more about finances. Germany and ironically.... as it seems most Brits want to leave the EU.... the UK, are holding the EU up financially with even France's economy dropping. I won't even mention the Southern EU countries. Germany does well under a stressed Euro as without the rest of the EU reigning the currency in, inflation would be huge in DE.

The pictures of the kids though....... Over the next few weeks I expect to see massive change and news about assisting those so desperate to find new lives, they'll go through such treacherous and dangerous waters..

actually I think its even simpler - the average Brit is happy to 'donate' to the genuinely needy, but not to someone they think is a fraud. If the economic migrants could be accurately seperated from the persecuted migrants, I suspect there wouldl be a lot more public pressure to let more people come to the UK. Ironically if we werent in the EU we'd probably be more welcoming now.

while we struggle to properly work out who of those who already live in the UK 'deserve' support and who doesn't, I doubt we'll reach a very good resolution over the wider migrant issue.

Thankfully Farage is keeping quiet. Or perhaps we need him to tip the balance.

I just saw David Cameron say the smartest thing.

If the UK is going to accept Syrians, they should go to the camps in Syria and PICK THEM UP.

What's massively wrong about all this is the f###ing press.

Two weeks ago it was all "illegal immigrants swamping us" or some such newspaper bollocks.

Now they see the public feeling and they are taking the high ground.

Wankers all of them.

Agreed. Consensus here in Denmark is that we simply cannot afford hordes of refugees, not enough housing etc. and them not contributing to the economy will break our welfare system.

We wanna help.. but the retards that burned our flag and destroyed our embassy in Syria a few years ago due to a cartoon can.. well...

I've been saying the same.

It's been "migrants this, immigrants that".  One photo of a drowned child and suddenly it's "poor refugees".  Did the journos think they were all leaving the kids behind in Syria???

Excellent.
I'd rather decline two drinks than one German adjective.
