How Yahoo escaped its Verizon death spiral and became profitable again.

https://www.theverge.com/podcast/895221/yahoo-jim-lanzone-scout-ai-sports-finance-open-web

This is very long but I found it interesting.

Search stuff is about 2/3rds down.  Yahoo is 3rd as a search destination.

I've been wondering how the anti-vaxxers felt about getting their pets vaccinated and now I know. This is not going to end well.

Amazing.  I never would have thought of gut/brain links.

Day One of a war with NATO, Russia cuts every undersea cable they can get to

True that, and China has been watching the Russian experiments in cable cutting.

That sounds wise, I've been reading lots of security and privacy warnings about OpenClaw.

That took me by surprise, I've been worried about plastic piping.  Dang, indoor plumbing can mess you up.

Thanks.  I like Bear Blog, it's easy and affordable especially since Wordpress.com became pricey.  I recommend Bear Blog, especially if you want to set up a blog fast and not have it be controlled by Big Tech.

The owner/developer of Bear Blog actually answers his emails, or at least he answered mine when I was looking for a non-US based blog host.  Very nice guy.

These were AWS data centers not AI but the vulnerabilities still apply. Sabatours with drones are hard to defend against.

That is brilliant.  With your permission I'd like to share that.

'Doomsday' report leaves experts rattled about increasing likelihood of US economy shake-up: 'The system wasn't designed for a crisis like this'

https://news.yahoo.com/news/finance/news/doomsday-report-leaves-experts-rattled-010000863.html

QuoteA scenario that began with unprecedented white-collar layoffs quickly devolved into mortgage meltdowns as capital continued to concentrate in the tech and AI sectors.

"The system wasn't designed for a crisis like this. The federal government's revenue base is essentially a tax on human time," Citrini's analysis explained. "People work, firms pay them, the government takes a cut.

"... The government needs to transfer more money to households at precisely the moment it is collecting less money from them in taxes."

Over the last couple of decades a lot of different alternative building technologies have been promoted with big announcements but then seem to disappear. (ie. Terrabrick, Hempcrete, straw bale, foamed spray concrete, various 3-D printing...)

3-D print corn waste crete makes a lot of sense in regions where you have a surplus of corn waste so it will be interesting to see where they go with this.

One question I have about 3-D in general is without rebar how strong is it against earthquakes where the earth shifts sideways rather than bouncing up and down?

I've done it all, component stereos, monster cables, standard wire, speakers (ceramic, titanium, liquid cooled), not to mention 45's, LP's, 8-Track, CD's blah blah and 90% of the hype is BS.  That and my ears are not sophisticated enough to really care enough under real world conditions.

Real world conditions = listening to mono top 40 station on a cheap old AM radio in a garage while sanding bondo on your buddy's rusting junker.
