What happened when conglomerates and consolidation took over the power tool industry.

Looks like a good firehose resourse. That would overwhelm my timeline.

I use Tech News Bot

@technewsbot@assortedflotsam.com

on Mastodon although no AI, it's just a RSS agregator but works well.

Economics & Investing / Re: 63% of new cars now EVs

This kinda reminds me of other historical fast adoptions of tech like how fast TV caught on in the US.  In just a few years everybody was shifting from radio to TV's only with EV's the US is not leading the way.

My YouTube timeline is lighting up with European reactions to American stuff.  They all seem a bit stunned.

>Buc-ees

Talk about free publicity, Buc-ees and Walmart seem top on the list of destinations to visit and film.  Waffle House is right in there too.  All the Europeans seem to be seeking them out. Legend.

Other impressions from YT: Scots have taken over Boston and are having a great time. (I'm thinking Boston might have to ship in more beer cos the Scots know how to party.) I think the Dutch are down in TX.

There seems to be surprise/shock at the size of our stadiums, but they are filling up so good all.

What I'm not seeing on YT or news is anything about how things are going in Canada and Mexico, but I'm sure the locals are doing things proud in both places, but it seems to be a blind spot.

Anyway, it's fun watching other people have a good time and I hope they continue to have a good time throughout their stay.

>US is the less reliable

Same.  BBC, DW, AFP, Reuters, here.  Plus NPR/PBS but they are crippled with the funding cuts.

I don't trust the US news networks and newspapers much anymore.

Well, that kills Roku for me.

His excitement is infectious, I hope they continue to have a good time.

Fun thread.

Oh! They found Waffle House and Walmart, real 'Merica, they will be okay.

Great read.  His design philosophy is spot on for the project he described, it had to work, be accessable and bulletproof.  HTML can do that.

Visualising Global Conflicts Through Maps

This has been in my bookmarks for a couple of weeks therefore I don't remember where I found it, but maps are handy.

Tourists staying in short term rentals, rather than hotels and resorts, seem to be cited as causing some of the friction, which makes sense if the locals can't escape tourists even at home. At least I see this mentioned in many of these articles.

Back 2019 - 2023ish and driving on a two lane highway where you go right through small towns in Iowa, I noticed a lot of fully restored old tractors from the 70's and 80's for sale outside of machine shops.  I found out later there was huge demand from smaller family farmers for these tractors because they could do the job without costing $100's K and could be repaired and didn't require waiting for critical parts from China and a computer tech.
