Lead me to this:

QuoteAccording to WHO, 65% of the world's population now lives in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight.

In trying to find the source:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn23004-overeating-now-bigger-global-problem-than-lack-of-food.html

QuoteThe largest ever study into the state of the world's health has revealed that, for the first time, the number of years of healthy living lost as a result of people eating too much outweigh the number lost by people eating too little.

But actually for me it is broader read than that.

Search for an article that compares the tons of refined sugar a country imports annually to its percentage of population with diabetes.

Robert Lustig, a Dr. who works on childhood obesity and is a bit of an Internet celebrity,  puts the blame squarely on the rise of sugar consumption.  If you look at a graph, the data lines up perfectly.

On a recent vacation I was shocked by the percentage of people out there who were extremely obese, not just 50lbs. over weight, but 100+.  It seems like a pandemic problem that isn't getting enough attention.

I recently went on a cruise out of South Carolina.  I was struck by the same thought.

I went to the Clay County Fair (a pretty backwoods county just south of Jacksonville) and noticed the same thing. First thing inside the gate was a place to rent scooters so you didn't even have to walk to get your corn dogs, funnel cake, and cotton candy. Or fairy floss as the Vikings call it.

Understatement of the year, Doc.

I saw kids getting out of the local middle school and was shocked to see that nearly all of them were overweight.

It is actually some of both. As long as you don't see people it is beautiful.
