I came across the announcement from the Annenberg Space for Photography announcing that they are not planning to reopen.

A friend whose organization has terminated 95% of the staff and has the remaining 5% on reduced hours, said that in their sphere (outdoor education), there are estimates that 80% of organizations are at risk of folding during the pandemic.

It's grim for organizations that depend on donations and it's going to get even grimmer as local, county and state governments rejigger their budgets and no doubt cut funding.

I know myself I had said I would make a donation to a fund designed to help graduate students attend a scholarly conference, but that now seems like such a luxury. Yesterday I talked to a friend whose car just died and who has hardly any income coming in and has gone through most of his savings. I decided there are too many people in dire need while we ourselves have taken multiple financial body blows for me to justify giving to causes that are not urgent. I imagine millions of people are making the same calculations.
