We had golf ball sized hail just south of here.  Lightening like I've never seen, tornado sirens went off twice yesterday. And, 30 miles away, they had softball sized hail.

Somewhere in Texas had grapefruit-size hail about 10 days ago.

And we've had hurricane Ana already and it is not yet hurricane season.

Feels like fire weather here. Just a matter of time.

The were supposed to do a 3-day, 487-acre burn and they only did one day. Just guessing, but since they had to get a helicopter to do some water drops and the thing blew up pretty fast, I think they decided it's already too dry for prescribed burns.

And, not an hour after I posted that, I got my first text alert of the season...

For us, we might get smoke, but there is 100,000 acres between that fire and us that burned in 2018, so it's not coming here. But the clouds of smoke might.

My sister Erica had it with last summer's fire season.  She didn't have air conditioning and spent 3 months in her house sweltering since she couldn't open windows.

She sold the house and is in the process of moving to Massachusetts.

The record high for June 2 here in Spokane is 92 degrees set back in 1937 and the forecast for today is 95. Temps in the 90s in June is pretty rare here. Those usually don't hit until mid-July through August.

We usually get one day over 100 here in Spokane. Right now we are on day 3 of 9 in a row that are projected to be over 100 and it is still June. The all time record is 108 set back in 1928 and we have 3 days (today, tomorrow, and Wednesday) all forecast to beat that. 109 today, 112 tomorrow, and 110 Wednesday.

Seattle is projected to hit 105 today and that is absolutely insane for over there. They are usually looking at 75 degrees this time of year. On this side of the state most houses built in the last 30-40 years have air conditioning. Over there it is rarely needed so most houses don't have it.

Yesterday a town in BC had the highest temperature ever recorded in all of Canada. Ugh.

I saw something the other day that said that if you were born after 1964, you've never experienced a month where the temperature across the whole planet was "above average" (usually that means something like a 30-year trailing average).

Wow, that town is much further north than I thought it would be. Figured it would be down near the border.

The power company said "our equipment reached its limit much faster than we expected" today and started some rolling blackouts.
