For people who do actual work with a pickup, this could be a great option.
 - low operating cost, especially if you have a rooftop of solar panels
 - no more hauling generators to the job site and listening to them all day
 - high torque (at least typically EVs have good torque)

The bare-bones Slate pickup has been getting good press in my feeds.

I'm leery of buying something with a 10 year life expectancy from a company that has not sold a vehicle yet.

Despite my wife's prodding and heckling to upgrade, I use an iPhone Xs that used to be hers. I'm just not the kind of person to buy the latest car from the latest company 😆

I have the luxury of not having to use a smartphone but I do keep one to use as a walkie-talkie when we're traveling and likely to get separated.  It's her very old <checks notes> Samsung Note 8.

Same. Because I drive beaters until their wheels fall off, my 1st thought is 'availability of parts 5-6 years from now.'

I'll note that the modern world seems likely to force changes upon me, however. Medical providers now rely more heavily than ever on phone contact & texting, for instance.
