Apparently, it's also the only one of the top (bottom?) 12 that did not happen in a recession or a pandemic.

It's the 12th highest monthly total in the 32 years Challenger has been tracking job cuts. The 11 others (four came during the Covid-19 pandemic) all occurred when the US was in a recession, Challenger data shows.

Noah Smith is generally a pretty sober, centrist economic policy analyst. He's not a fan of Trump econ policy to date (and, to be fair, had a lot of complaints about Biden's economic policy too).
