Members of the European Parliament want to cut Russian gas imports by January 2027 instead of 2028, claiming that Moscow's pipeline influence continues to shrink from 45% to 19% since 2022.

Good articles, especially the second.

I think it highlights two things that people often miss, but often discussed here.

1. Exponential increase often makes it seem like nothing is happening until all of the sudden it seems like everything is happening

2. The durable things (cars, power plants) that we buy today will be around for a long time.

Complete fleet turnover takes about 20 years. The thing that will accelerate that is if the cost of ownership of an EV gets so advantageous to ICE or if finding fuel becomes hard - the latter was a big factor in our decision to go PHEV. If the local gas station had been rebuilt after the flood of 1997, we might have seen things differently. On the other hand, if charging infrastructure were 5X what it is now, we would probably have a full EV.
