3 warning signs something very bad is going to happen soon...

As you may know, I've been researching the possibility of the collapse of the U.S. dollar since December, and I have found 3 enormous warning signs that something very bad is going to happen soon in the U.S. and none of them were really covered on nightly news, despite the enormity of their implications. I'm sending this to friends and family in case they missed these recent developments in Feb and March and am telling them, the government is preparing for the worst, and they should too...

The following was pieced together from several articles. Please read at least the highlighted parts, and pass it around to your friends and family...

1.) The Department Of Homeland Security Is Buying 450 Million New .40 caliber Bullets. On March 12th, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office is getting an "indefinite delivery" of an "indefinite quantity" of .40 caliber ammunition from defense contractor ATK.  U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years. The Department also has an open bid for a stockpile of up to 175 million rounds of .223 caliber ammo.  Note this is NOT for our MILITARY, it is for a new internal police department that didn't even exist 10 years ago.


2.) FEMA put out a Request for Proposal, or RFP, for 420 million meals - a BILLION dollars in food. Typically, FEMA maintains a stockpile of about 6 million meals.


3.) Obama signed a "National Defense Resources Preparedness" on March 26th, an Executive Order which vastly expands the role of Homeland Security and intends to shore up the country's national defense resources in advance of a national emergency. This is not the first time that such an order has been written. In the past, however, these orders have related to things like production capacity for defense contractors, or giving FEMA authority to resolve disputes between other departments in federally designated emergency areas. President Obama's order, however, takes things much, much further, and now the Secretary of DHS will:

a) "advise the President on issues of national defense resource preparedness". Under normal circumstances, matters related to defense would fall under the Secretary of Defense... or perhaps the National Security Advisor. Giving such responsibility to DHS suggests that the government is expecting an emergency from within.
b) "provide for the central coordination of the plans and programs... under this order, and provide guidance to agencies assigned functions under this order..." DHS now has authority to direct the emergency preparedness of every other government department.
c) have oversight of "all other national defense programs, including civil defense and continuity of Government."

The order further provides for an effective nationalization of the entire US economy in the event of an emergency. The Secretary of Labor, for example, will "collect and maintain data necessary to make a continuing appraisal of the Nation's workforce needs for purposes of national defense" and then "formulate plans, programs, and policies for meeting the labor requirements of actions to be taken for national defense purposes."
The purpose of this order, for example, is to "take actions necessary to ensure the availability of adequate resources and production capability, including services and critical technology, for national defense requirements." It goes on to list 'adequate resources' to include things like:
(i) "all forms of energy including petroleum, gas (both natural and manufactured), electricity, solid fuels... solar, wind, other types of renewable energy, atomic energy", etc.
(ii) "all usable water, from all sources, within the jurisdiction of the United States, that can be managed, controlled, and allocated to meet emergency requirements..."
(iii) "all commodities and products... that are capable of being ingested by either human beings or animals..."
(iv) "drugs, biological products, medical devices, materials, facilities, health supplies, services and equipment required to diagnose, mitigate or prevent the impairment of, improve, treat, cure, or restore the physical or mental health conditions of the population."

...So Food, Water, Energy, Medicine, and Security; everything that human beings need at a basic level to survive. Except that Obama's executive order puts all of these resources under control of the government and allocates them exclusively to meet the needs of government.

I didn't write a conclusion because I think there is little else to say... the government is buying bullets and food, and passed a law they can do whatever they want. Something bad is right around the corner.  I don't know exactly what it is, but it sounds horrible.

In all seriousness, I have no idea if impending doom is around the corner or not, but the expectation of it has been going on for at least as long as I've been alive.  It seems to be a deep part of our culture.

I look at it this way: if I'm wrong, nothing happens.  If the counter argument is wrong, they are absolutely screwed.  

I feel strongly enough about it that I think it's important enough to bring it up for discussion. In fact, I would go so far as saying I think it's my moral obligation to tell you what I see and think, whether or not you think its BS or I'm sadly misinformed.

Again, the government has ordered food and ammunition on a scale never seen before, and has passed legislation that strips you of your basic rights to property and your ability protect and sustain yourself in times of National Emergency.

This is NOT an opinion.  I'm not telling you this is what I think, I'm telling you what has already happened and was not widely publicized, as it should have been on the news. The government is preparing for the worst.

Okay, I think attacks on privacy and civil liberties in America are alarming. I distrust my government and believe every citizen should. I believe that a democracy is only as strong as the vigilance of its citizens. But I also think you're kinda slingin' shit here dude (wouldn't say that to everyone, but I think I'm right that you don't mind a little resistance, right?).

Sure, ICE didn't exist, because it was "Created in 2003 through a merger of the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the U.S. Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service" I don't know how the totals add up and how exactly the powers differ, but it wasn't some internal police department created ex-nihilo to drive all the black tanks and black helicopters that the UN and the Trilateral Commission are stockpiling in the United States.

1. That is the absolute max and it's over five years. Say they actually take delivery on half. That's about 40 bullets per week per employee. That probably more than meets their required practice range shooting, but not by a lot. And it doesn't mean they're stocking up on 450m bullets today for a protracted battle with Occupy.

2. Context? A friend not long ago checked out on a forty as a commissioned federal LEO. Are they transitioning to 40s? I don't know. The articles don't say and most on are sites of decidedly secondary (being charitable) quality. And most seem to link back to the one crappy article on Business Insider.

One word - Katrina. They were caught so il-prepared for any kind of disaster - military, economic, metereological, seismological and more. Imagine a massive earthquake in LA requiring FEMA to feed the city 20 million meals a day. Imagine a Katrina-like hurricane hits Florida at the same time, and another 10 million meals per day are needed on the other side of the country. You need these distributed as well. We used to have this in every American city (and every Swiss city still does), but sometime in the 1970s we stopped keeping up on emergency food stores. FEMA may usually have only 6 million meals, but FEMA has a poor track record of knowing how many resources they need.

I would like to see an article on this by someone other than professional and semi-professional paranoiacs and their echo chamber. The main reporting article on this makes assertions with no evidence or citations that there is some connection between these orders and increased terrorist chatter. But he seems to have pulled that (and much else) out of thin air.

I could go on, but I do not think a passing comet is a starship announcing the end of the world, I don't think Christ is coming tomorrow and I don't think we're quite that close to a military coup or fascist takeover.

I was more afraid of that under Reagan when he had Ollie North put together plans to declare martial law. In the current climate I am more afraid of a real and persistent erosion of privacy and civil liberties. In short, I'm more afraid of America descending into peaceful complacency and a Brave New World society than I am about violent disruption.

That said, 90% of the citizens of the Weimar Republic would have said the same. So I don't say it won't. I'm just saying that the most optimistic and most pessimistic scenarios almost never come to pass. I never believed the crap about DOW 36000 and I don't think that what you are implying will happen actually will happen.

Yeah, exactly. Matsumura, citing Robert Alvarez, says that this could result in a radiation release 10x Chernobyl, which is pretty damn serious, but it's not like it's going to end life or "change the world forever." The United States and the Soviet Union and China exploded how many monster hyrdogen bombs in above ground tests, sinking entire Pacific Islands and yet, perhaps to our shame as a species, for the most part, life on earth goes on. Meanwhile, coal plants crank mercury and radiation into the atmosphere in massive amounts and people sit idly by and let it happen.

IIRC, Chernobyl was only a partial release - I seem to recall the Russians capped that leak. Far more could have escaped otherwise.

What the diplomat seems to be suggesting is not that all the radioactive material in Fukushima is likely to be released - simply that there's a massive amount of radiation in there, and Japan would like American technical and financial support to deal with it.

Yeah, thought about that. Almost put this in Members for that reason, but if the idea is to spread the news, then might as well make it public.  I posted in FB too, so the circle is complete.  The guys in Kitco hate me so I figured I'd elicit some good feedback there. I liked the response about range shooting too, but again, that was totally unsubstantiated numbers.  I don't know how much they really use, but I was at a concealed carry class last night and the guys in the store were talking about it, which is what tipped me off that it was a notably big buy - not routine by their account, and they are gun geeks.  Hundreds of MILLIONS of rounds is a lot of ammo by any standards.  Maybe it's not a lot per employee per week, but it also means we have a very large public facing police force that is making sure they get what they need, without any supply issues... which makes you wonder why there might be supply issues.  The answer of course is that americans are buying guns and ammo like its going out of style, gun stocks are soaring.... why?  If everything is cool, why the arms race?

That's Matsumura's number, but the better researched number seems to be Alvarez's who puts it at 10x.

Don't get me wrong - that is still a major and scary disaster. With the wind going the wrong way in such a densely populated country... sheesh, shudders run down my spine and I think Matsumura is right to try to get the word out there about Fukushima as well as the general problem of these accumulated pools and the fact that this is a serious global problem.

But to make the jump to say that it will end life as we know it on the planet... that just isn't realistic.
