What Happened to the Uber-for-X Companies

Of this group, four—DoorDash, Grubhub, Instacart, and Postmates—are unicorns, start-ups valued at more than $1 billion. (Notably, all are in the delivery business.) Forty-seven are gone—28 simply closed down; 19 were acquired. But 53 are neither unicorn nor roadkill.

I see these guys all over the place, various ones. They seem to be helping fill that low end employee slot to some degree.

I think it is also a simple second job for a lot of people. I have a few friends who are teachers and they do Uber Eats deliveries on the weekends or evenings. Just a few hours here and there but the extra $200 or so a month they get makes a pretty big difference to them.
