I'm helping with a freelance writing project, in which articles evaluate products from third-party websites. Each product has its own subheading and section, with direct links to the third-party products in the headings.
ie,
1. GoogleSome text all about Google!
I find this odd. From an old-skool perspective, I want to push on a standard document structure, ie, where subheadings are just subheadings in a h tag.
Additionally, I'd rather list references to subheadings on a page using
a name properties, like might be found on Wikipedia page, where the opening of the page lists subheadings by links which a user can quickly click through to.
However, is this just me being old-fashioned? Is there really going to be SEO value in adding links to subheadings? Or is there more SEO value in following the old document strategy? Or is it the case that neither really matters any more, because of the rise in semantics and user tracking?
Would just like to get some second opinions on this.
