When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace becomes a circus.

I think the "cool kids" will be hanging around in bookstores/live events etc. The question is will that be profitable for the venues? I've been putting on a few concerts over in Vietnam (pics on request) still hugely popular. I just think for "real" experiences the bar has been raised, everything needs to be extra special.

"Confidence in CS's investment bank is widely considered to be shot, optimism about the three-year turnround is fragile, deposit bleed has yet to be stanched, and the wealth management division is losing money, which is the finance equivalent of jumping off a boat and missing the water.

One month later: These maps show how quickly Covid engulfed the US again

More than 98% of US residents now live in an area where there is a "high" or "substantial" risk of Covid-19 community transmission, up from 19% of residents only a month ago.

Rapidly increasing middle class, lots more cars, lots more hi-rise buildings.

More visible in Ho Chi Minh, skyscrapers tend to be in the centre, in Hanoi more spread with the city moving westward at a pace.

It's still Vietnam though.

I think in almost any major city in the world you are a few turns from the modern centre into the "real" world. Maybe the Asian cities require less turns, Hong Kong, Seoul and even Tokyo included.

I think this is a decent overview https://www.worldbank.org/en/country/vietnam/overview of what is really quite remarkable progress since Đổi Mới in 1986.
