Every time I've looked at buying online from Ikea, the shipping costs were crazy. I quit looking.

Same.  But we have a store an hour away now in our nearest urban area.  That's just right for the occasional trip.

I wonder how much of that 10% was ordered online but local pickup?

That's what I was thinking. People can't be paying those shipping costs??? Who knows. People want convenient ;-)

I think Ikea could be one of the companies that could kind of ignore the online component of their business. There is no store better at getting you to add extra crap to your cart while walking through than Ikea. And if they shift consumers to online they lose out the cafeteria revenue as well. It almost seems like a trip there is more of an event than a shopping trip.
